Chapter 8!

Chapter 8 of Red Colony is up and readyish! In retrospect, i see the stuff i forgot, like authors notes and a link here, but i'll get that stuff up soon. Anyway, that was the first "official" author business my new laptop has handled, and it did it well, so i'm happy. I'll have plenty to keep me busy soon, since now that we're discovered the cloaked DISTF, there will be a ton of cool tech. I'll start with the cloak, but not at this instant. If i seem random and weird, it's because it's almost 2 in the morning and i just got done with my birthday party on a thursday night. Anyway, before i say something weird. So, good morning, and have a nice...time.

Merry Christmas!

So, yeah, the Christmas day post. I know, not good. Be with family, have good activities, the works. Trust me, I did that. which brings me to here. I'm posting this as the first real action on my brand new Gateway computer. I won't bore you with the details, but It's a beautiful black laptop with an HD LCD display and a sizeable hard drive. So, I'll do lots of typing and publishing of stories! Yay; that's actually your Christmas present.

So, yeah, just wanted to let you know. Hopefully i'll get internet at home soon (I know, i've said it before, but actually having the laptop sitting here will encourage it). Then, I'll have Live for my xBox, and i can party chat with my friends about story ideas, and i can type them and publish them from here! I love this laptop. It's so awesome. Anyway, now you know that i'm still here and kickin', hopefully, you'll hear about stuff fairly often.

So, have a wonderful rest of Christmas, and I'll talk to you soon!

Long Time, No Post

So here we are again, wondering why i've not posted since before thanksgiving break. Yeah...two weeks: not good. But at least i didn't forget to mention anything because basically nothing happened. Or at least, nothing was published.

In the less computer-heavy world of my paper writing, there's been a bit more going on. I don't know if i mentioned it, but there's a super-secret effort to write a real novel and get it really published. I think it would fall in to fantasy, because it's a post-appocolyptic story with some weird twists. But, i'm keeping it all secret so that maybe this one won't get claimed and put into reality. That would actually be really bad.

And also, i've been working on musical. I would guess that just this blog would hint at my interest in theater, though it mostly applies to the technical and musical aspects, not actually acting. So it only seems fitting that i'm attempting to write my own musical, and that i'm also working at becoming the conductor in a possible student run show at our school. But that's a different blog, or a different time. The one i'm writing happens to be fantasy with a moral. Imagine that; me trying to teach a moral! But anyway, i'm doing everything, from script to stage direction, to the music, lyrics and instrumental.

But in the flood of ideas being applied into those stories, i've gotten hung up in Red Colony. There's a little bit of sci-fi i'm having trouble with, including the size of...

...You almost got me! But that's okay, you'll find out soon enough. I was just working on finishing typing chapter 8 the other day, and that and chapter 9 will be awesome. Anyway, Titanic distracted me, so i have to end this rather abruptly. So, i'll blog more later.

Oops! We're Sorry!

In case you wonder why i'm cliche-ly apologizing, it's because i'm aware of the obvious haste with which my last post was published. I'm aware it was full of typos, looks stupid, and is missing some important information. But it's because i typed it at Kitt's house while we were having another party, this one being after a 20 minute long pep band performance at a scrimage. Anyway, I was correct to say that i intend to write more soon, but i left out a lot of details you may or may not want to know.

For example, within Red Colony, i intend to have some wordy descriptions about some cool technology that will premiere in the very near future. I assure you that if you find sci-fi tech cool, these will be the posts for you.

Also, in the real world, I could mention it's almost Thanksgiving Break (yeah, so it's only a four day weekend; it's still something.) and that i'm looking forward to the snow that may fall really soon. Also, pep band is going to be for real soon, and the other bands i'm in are readying for performances. Interestingly enough, the jazz band i'm in not through school just played at the Festival of Trees, the local event. We sounded pretty good.

Also, as an attachment, i read a story in the paper yesterday. Guess what it was about. Imagine this: it was about the controversy of sending astronauts to Mars without the intention of bringing them home. The associated press actually seemed to favor that plan, though the government begs to differ. Maybe they need a special corperation to secretly send them up! But what if they felt betrayed and declared independance? Hm. Maybe the government is watching out internet lives.

Anyway, I think i got everything I need to say out there on the internet. I hope our freedom of speech encouraging government doesn't find my knowledge of their Mars plagiarism offensive/reason to make me invisible. So, i guess with that feeling of dread (which i hope rubbed off on you), i'll leave you all hopeing that you'll hear from me again.

Yours in Fiction, David "Palm Tree" H

Life as We Know It...

...Is soon to return to normal. Finally, the musical is over. Thank goodness.

So, yeah, as soon as i finish chatching up to the weeks of schoolwork i missed (Mr. Conklin literally made fun of me in class for it), i will continue writing. I basically have made no progress in writing. But, hopefully, once i catch up in a chapter and a half of physics and finish an awesome book on storm chasing i'm borrowing, i'll have enough time to type and publish the chapter i'[m sitting on and finish the one i'm working on. Anyway, just wanted to keep you up to date since i have a computer handy. Good reading!

Techie Trouble

So, first the good news. I did get chapter seven uploaded and it's pretty awesome, though i believe it's terrifyingly short. But chapter eight is a little better, and i just have to finish typing, so be on the lookout.

But that leads to the bad news. Don't strain yourself while looking because it probably won't be for a while. As you know, my drama involvement is extreme. But you might not know that last week was supposed to be tech week, and this week and extenstion of that, and also dress rehearsals. This, as shown by the yellow paint constantly on myself and my clothes, is not the case. Yesterday, we were on the stage for about four and a half hours, not counting clean up time. We finished a lot, but we're not really close to done. With everyone's (including the cast, yay) help on Friday, we basically cleaned the whole stage. I had them move everyone move everything small enough to be moved off stage and into the shop, and everything too big was moved behind the backstage curtain. Even the giant flat was moved into the stage right wing and covered by the sidestage curtains. The only thing left out was a rolling platform/box. It was amazingly clean.

As i'm sure you guessed by now, i got almost no writing done. I have been constantly busy and any free time is being diverted to the homework i haven't really been doing. Between pit orchestra, jazz band, and stage crew, i've been at school about 14 straight hours a day, sometimes more. And, scholastic just started, too.

So now, all we have left to build is the remainder of the pyramid and the wall on the platform/box. Also, we'll have to paint a ton of stuff at the last possible minute, but that'll be easy.

So, after sunday, expect some more author related stuff, and slightly less drama-induced-stress/panic. Kay? Thanks. Bye!

Ahhh!

That's the emotion i feel right now.

So, i actually found my flashdrive! And i even got up early and put chapter seven on to upload. The character bios to print and give to Sarah were on there and ready, too! Then, i went to scholastic practice, had a mostly pleasant time, then realized that i didn't have the flash drive.

It is sitting at home. Next to the chair. Just waiting for me to stop being stupid!

But don't worry. If i can't get that stuff ready today, I'll get it ready tomorrow. I will not give up!

Also, chapter eight is finished and just needs to be typed, and nine is on it's way. Lots of cool stuff about to happen, be sure to keep up to date!

-Yawn-

-Stretch-

Good morning! Or maybe not--it is a monday.

So i just wanted to let you know that i have pit band every single day after school for the next three weeks (except this thursday and friday, because of early dismisal and no school, respectively). So, while i may get a lot done in the notebook, don't expect to see much on the webs. My weeks are begining to look like: Show up at school at 7, classes from 8 to 3, crew from 3-6, pit band from 6-who knows when, every day. If i disappear from the world of the mortals, don't be too surprised.

In other news, i've gotten almost nothing done since the last time i blogged. My weekend was strictly sailing, and not the kind where you can sit and write with the inspiration of the wind and water. No. It was the kind of sailing where you tie everything down, sometimes including yourself, tie on the smallest sails you can find, and try to keep the boat upright. Though, we did make 6 knots with a reefed main and a storm jib, so that's something (fairly monumental).

Anyway, writing is on the back burner at the moment, behind the endless need in the drama department, my musical interests, heaps of second quarter schoolwork, and getting the boats ready for winter. But in about four weeks, when i have nothing to do and all the time i need to do it, i'll type up all the chapters i've written and keep everyone interested in whatever i want them interested in.

Have a not-too-monotonous monday!

Weather Eyes?

So, it just occurred to me that "keep a weather eye on the horizon" is a legit phrase right now because, not only should you keep up to date, but i just finished sailing today. Sadly, besides next Saturday with Amy and tomorrow if i doesn't rain, there'll be no more sailing. But, if i know me, and i think i do, the lack of sailing will make me write about it more, so it won't be out of my life, just out of my activities.

Anyway, there'll also be a lot of RC too, because it's about to get good and, unless i get stuck, i'll find it almost impossible to stop writing. And--drum roll please!--there'll also be character art soon thanks to a friend, Sarah! Yay for getting to see what you formally only imagined. So look out, cool stuff soon!

Peace! (Another fun virtue i'm following.)

Jumping On In

I hope you follow me on Fiction Press; that's the main reason for this blog. If so, you'll know i just posted chapter six in Red Colony, my favorite story about colonization of Mars. Sorry about the wait, I've kinda been sitting on that one for about 4 months. But, to make up for that failure, I started and finished chapter seven yesterday! And i also bit off a big chunk of chapter eight.

In the future, there will be a lot of info about how certain things in the story work. I'd really not write a boring explanation of things if it's only going to scare people away from my story. But if i put it here, people can read it if they want to (or don't believe it could be done), or they can avoid it altogether if they would really rather not know why it works, just trust that it does. So be on the lookout.

Also, in case you care, i've been writing a script for a short zombie movie with my friends as actors. It's pretty cool, if i say so myself, if not a little cliche. But it's my first time with script writing. Hopefully, i can finish up the script and get some shooting in this fall, before the weather gets wrong for it.

So, to summarize, read chapter six (Or start from the begining), watch out for chapter seven, look out for detailed descriptions of cool sci-fi tech, and watch for news on the writing or shooting of my movie. And always feel free to suggest something if you think it's relevent!

Have a humorous day! (It's a virtue.)
